Report: 'The Sandlot' prequel in early development

A prequel to the iconic '90s baseball film "The Sandlot" is reportedly in the works.

David Mickey Evans, who co-wrote and directed the original movie, and Austin Reynolds have signed on to pen the script for 20th Century Fox, according to Deadline's Amanda N'Duka. This comes just after "The Sandlot" celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The movie spawned two sequels (2005's "The Sandlot 2" and 2007's "The Sandlot: Heading Home"), but neither achieved the same level of success.
