Liverpool has tempted Roma with a €70-million offer for Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson, according to Sky Sport's Fabrizio Romano.

The bid, which includes add-ons, reportedly falls €5 million short of the Italian club's asking price.

Talks are believed to be ongoing.

Liverpool, armed with the financial windfall from Philippe Coutinho's transfer to Barcelona, emerged as a suitor early in 2018. Talk of a move intensified in the days after Loris Karius' infamous performance in the Champions League final.

Real Madrid and Chelsea have also been linked with the 25-year-old Alisson, who earned rave reviews in Serie A for his spectacular shot-stopping and composure.

Roma was reportedly leery of selling another big player to Liverpool. The Reds signed Mohamed Salah from the Giallorossi for a relatively modest €42 million last July. However, negotiations appear to have accelerated since the Merseyside club first enquired about the goalkeeper.

Named the No. 1 ahead of Simon Mignolet, Karius ruined what was an encouraging second half of the season with blunders in the 3-1 defeat to Madrid in Kyiv. The series of errors forced manager Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool's transfer board to rethink the team's situation in goal.

Alisson would become the fourth signing of Liverpool's summer window, following the arrivals of Naby Keita, Fabinho, and Xherdan Shaqiri.
