Peterson wants to unite with Gurley 'down there in St. Louis'

Adrian Peterson wouldn't mind sharing a backfield with Todd Gurley in St. Louis. The problem is, Gurley's Rams have been in Los Angeles for two years now.

"Obviously, I've mentioned Houston a couple times," Peterson said recently on ESPN's NFL Live while discussing his options for the upcoming season. "I feel like Green Bay wouldn't be a bad look as well. Carolina. There's some options out there. You know, Miami. Down there in St. Louis. That would be a nice look, too, with Todd Gurley.

"You see around the league they have a two-back system. Guys are really not pounding the ball 20, 30 times a game, so I think that leaves the door open for a couple opportunities for me."

Peterson has struggled to find employment coming off a season in which he rushed for 529 yards and two touchdowns over 10 appearances with the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals.

The 33-year-old ranks 12th on the NFL's all-time rushing list with 12,276 career yards.
