Marc Leishman fired a 10-under 61 in opening-round action of the AT&T Byron Nelson, setting the course record at Trinity Forest Golf Club.

Leishman's bogey-free round included two eagles and six birdies. The 34-year-old also hit 16-of-17 greens in regulation and failed to miss a fairway.

"Probably the first time I've ever done that," Leishman said in his post-round interview.

The thought of 59 never crept into the Aussie's mind until his caddie mentioned it on the last hole, but he was happy with the 61. "I'll take that," he said with a laugh.

Thursday's 61 was Leishman's lowest in 797 career PGA Tour rounds.

Trinity Forest's main defense is wind, which was non-existent during play in Round 1.

Leishman's second round will begin at 8:40 a.m. ET, as he sits on a three-shot lead.
