The elderly man who was rescued by running back Christian McCaffrey while hiking was surprised with tickets to an upcoming Carolina Panthers game.

Dan Smoker took to Twitter on Tuesday to share a letter his family received from the Panthers along with signed jerseys and an invitation to one of the team's home games.

"We are so happy to hear the good news about Dan Sr. leaving the hospital in good health," the letter reads. "We would like to invite you into the Carolina Panthers family by attending a home game this upcoming season on behalf of Christian McCaffrey and Academy Sports. Can't wait to see you in the black and blue."

McCaffrey was hiking with his brothers, Dylan and Max, and two friends in Castle Rock, Colo. in March when he saw 72-year-old Dan Smoker Sr. fall 20 feet onto a rock. He called 911 while one of his friends and a fellow onlooker tended to Smoker, who broke his neck, femur, and pelvis as well as fractured nine ribs and suffered internal bleeding in the fall.
