Panthers select LB Jermaine Carter Jr. in 5th round

The Carolina Panthers have selected offensive tackle Jermaine Carter Jr. out of Maryland in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, 161st overall.

Carter had a productive career for the Terrapins, accumulating at least 90 tackles in each of the last three seasons. He ran a 4.68-second 40-yard dash at his pro day.

Carter adds depth to Carolina's linebacking corps behind Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis, and Shaq Thompson.
