Jerry Jones: Witten hasn't made final call on retirement yet
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters Friday that tight end Jason Witten hasn't made a final decision on his reported retirement.
Reports broke Friday afternoon that the 15-year veteran is set to hang up his spikes and join ESPN as the lead analyst for Monday Night Football.
Witten, a team captain, previously stated his desire to continue his playing career on multiple occasions, even suggesting he hopes to play until at least age 40.
However, NFL Network's Ian Rapaport subsequently tweeted that he has been told Witten's ultimate decision will be to make the move to TV.
Witten, who turns 36 in May, has seen his production as a pass-catcher decline over the last handful of years but remains a reliable security blanket in the passing game. He caught 63 passes for 560 yards and five touchdowns in 2017.
An 11-time Pro Bowler, Witten has 1,152 receptions for 12,448 yards and 68 touchdowns in 239 career regular-season contests.
