Allen thanks Bills for drafting him after Twitter controversy

Josh Allen emerged as one of the most controversial picks in recent memory, but he's just relieved to be off the board.

After a brief wait, the Buffalo Bills traded up to the seventh overall pick to select Allen, marking him as their quarterback of the future.

Prior to the draft, a series of questionable tweets made by Allen when he was in high school were highlighted by several Twitter users, leading some to believe he'd descend down draft boards.

Allen said he'd likely address his previous tweets upon meeting his new Bills teammates.

"I don't have to, but I probably will. I want them to know that I am going to work on being the best teammate possible. I've never had a problem in my past with any teammates," Allen said to ESPN's Suzy Kolber via Mike Rodak.

Allen appeared to be eternally grateful to the Bills after a tumultuous 24 hours.

"I want to say thank you to the Bills organization for making the leap and putting their faith in me. I'm gonna make them look like they are the smartest people out there," he said.
