The town of Boerne, Texas is hosting a race that requires zero training.
Described as an event for "fellow underachievers," the inaugural Boerne 0.5K will lampoon the typical 5K while raising money for the charity Blessings in a Backpack.
Runners will be provided with two free pints of beer (one at the start of the race and one at the end), a coffee and donut refueling station at the halfway point, and a designated smoking section. There will also be costume contests, a bagpipe player performing "Amazing Grace," and participation medals for everyone.
The race will be held May 5, but unfortunately, spaces have already filled up.
"Please don't be mad at us! We are as surprised as you are - we really had no idea we would have this many people sign up," organizers said. "Thank you for your interest and we are already discussing how we can increase the capacity for this event in 2019!"
