Report: Brady has yet to commit to playing in 2018

Tom Brady reportedly has yet to commit to playing in 2018, even though people who know the New England Patriots quarterback believe he will be back, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

Brady has said repeatedly that he wants to continue playing well into his mid-40s, but sources said some people around him would prefer that he retire.

Brady, who turns 41 in August, was not in attendance for the start of the Patriots' offseason program this week. It's not the first time the star pivot has missed the voluntary workouts, as Brady didn't attend in 2008, 2009, or 2010.

The 13-time Pro Bowler reportedly plans to spend more time this offseason with his personal trainer, Alex Guerrero. Brady's private workouts with Guerrero have caused some friction with head coach Bill Belichick, who's banned the trainer from the Patriots' sideline.

If Brady retires so soon, it would certainly come as a surprise to New England after the club traded his expected successor, Jimmy Garoppolo, to the San Francisco 49ers last October. The only other quarterback on the roster is Brian Hoyer, who inked a three-year deal with the team at the trade deadline last year.

Regardless of the Brady news, the Patriots were expected to target a quarterback in next week's draft, as they currently hold two first-round and two second-round picks.
