Rodgers: Need to 'trust the process' behind personnel decisions
Aaron Rodgers addressed his reported frustrations with his lack of say in the Green Bay Packers' personnel decisions this offseason during a media appearance Tuesday.
Asked about how much input he wants on the direction of the franchise, the star pivot said, "I know my role, and that's to play as well as I possibly can at quarterback," according to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette
Rodgers acknowledged that the losses of longtime go-to receiver Jordy Nelson and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt stung, but emphasized those are "team decisions."
"This process works, and it has worked for (head coach) Mike (McCarthy) for a number of years," Rodgers said. "Obviously, that's why he's still here in his 13th season. We've had a lot of success here, and just got to trust the process."
The two-time NFL MVP also spoke about his contract situation. Rodgers has two years remaining on his current deal, but has slipped to ninth in terms of annual salary among quarterbacks, according to Over The Cap.
"There's interest on both sides in getting something done," Rodgers added.
