The Baltimore Ravens signed free-agent quarterback Robert Griffin III to a one-year contract, general manager Ozzie Newsome announced Wednesday. Newsome said the two sides agreed to a deal Tuesday and he expects Griffin to be in the facility to sign the contract next week.

Griffin's deal includes a base salary of $1 million, along with a small signing bonus, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Griffin didn't play in the NFL during the 2017 season, most recently suiting up for five games with the Cleveland Browns in the 2016 campaign.

The 28-year-old was nearly signed by the Ravens last year, and, though they didn't come to an agreement, the team had kept tabs on Griffin since, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

While the former second overall draft pick has started all but two games he's been active for in his career, Griffin is expected to be a backup option behind Joe Flacco.
