The Bills made another bold move to grab their new defensive dynamo after jumping up for Josh Allen.

Buffalo gave up the No. 22 and No. 65 overall picks for the Baltimore Ravens' No. 16 pick and selected linebacker Tremaine Edmunds out of Virginia Tech.

Standing at a ridiculous 6-foot-5 and just 19 years old, Edmunds has one of the highest ceilings in the draft.

Tremaine Edmunds Bio

Position: LB
School: Virginia Tech
College Experience: Junior
Height: 6-5
Weight: 253 lbs

Strengths

  • Possesses rare athletic traits (height/weight/length) for an NFL linebacker.
  • Only 19 years old (turns 20 in May), so a year or two of coaching could help unlock his unique potential.
  • Moves very well in space for a linebacker his size, especially laterally. Also has incredible closing speed/pursuit.
  • Has ability to man-cover tight ends and running backs.
  • Versatility to fit into any scheme; can even rush the passer on the edge.
  • Ball-carriers rarely escape his grasp due to incredibly wide wingspan.
  • Athletic linebacker who plays all over the field.

Weaknesses

  • Relies on athleticism and is often slow to diagnose certain plays.
  • Plays with high pad level when engaging, which causes him to lose leverage while pursuing.
  • Needs to work on zone-coverage responsibilities.
  • Must improve gap control/awareness; often takes inefficient paths to ball-carriers.
