Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett surrendered to Houston authorities Monday after being charged with injuring a paraplegic woman following last year's Super Bowl, Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Bennett was taken into custody after a 35-minute court appearance and is expected to be released on bond later in the day. Judge Robert Johnson set bail at $10,000.

The Eagles offseason addition is charged with shoving and injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic security guard working at NRG Stadium in Houston while attempting to get onto the field to celebrate with his brother, Martellus, who played for the Patriots at the time.

Speaking at the NFL meetings in Orlando, VP of football operations Howie Roseman told reporters he didn't know about the situation until Friday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "People are innocent until proven guilty," he said.

The league is looking into the incident.
