The New York Giants have signed free-agent safety Michael Thomas, the team announced Monday.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the deal is for two years.
Thomas spent five seasons with the Dolphins after going undrafted in 2012 and signing with the 49ers. He's a versatile defender capable of playing cornerback and safety, and has excelled on special teams throughout his career.
The defensive back started two games for Miami in 2017, making nine tackles and defending one pass. He started 21 contests between 2015 and 2016.
Thomas could compete across from strong safety Landon Collins with the likes of Darian Thompson and Andrew Adams. He was also utilized in a dime linebacker role during his time with the Dolphins.
