Browns, Stanton agree to 2-year deal
The Cleveland Browns have agreed to a contract with veteran quarterback Drew Stanton, the team announced Sunday.
Stanton's agent, Mike McCartney, confirmed it to be a two-year deal.
The 33-year-old is the second quarterback added by the Browns and general manager John Dorsey, who has been a busy man this offseason. The team acquired Tyrod Taylor, among other players, in early March, and with the Browns possessing the first and fourth overall picks, Dorsey and Co. could opt for another quarterback through the draft.
Stanton, a perennial backup, will provide added depth and insurance in the interim. The veteran appeared in five games (four starts) for the Arizona Cardinals last season in place of the injured Carson Palmer. He threw for 894 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions.
