Unsurprisingly, the Indianapolis Colts will be very cautious with the return of their franchise player.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard said Wednesday the team intends to ease Andrew Luck back into action during offseason workouts, which start April 9, following a lost season due to a shoulder injury, according to Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site.

Ballard added that Luck - who lessened concerns about his future in February by saying a second surgery on his throwing shoulder wasn't an option - is "in a great place right now."

The quarterback was initially expected back for the start of the 2017 campaign following a January procedure, but was shut down in November after feeling pain in his shoulder when he resumed throwing. He ultimately missed the entire season.

Luck spent time rehabbing in Europe this offseason, but clarified that he didn't receive any treatment he couldn't have gotten in the U.S following speculation he was seeking alternative options.
