Ravens' Williams had eye surgery due to degenerative disease

Star defensive tackle Brandon Williams has had to undergo corrective surgery on each one of his eyes.

An eye disease called keratoconus, which thins and warps the corneas into a cone shape, forced the Baltimore Ravens defender to have surgery on his left eye in 2017, and he underwent the same procedure on his right eye earlier in March.

"It started to hinder my seeing the board when we went over plays, so I had to get it fixed," Williams said, according to David Ginsburg of The Associated Press.

"I was scared," he added, "but also relieved that there was a treatment out there that could help me."

Williams signed a five-year, $52.5-million deal with the Ravens last March.
Following surgery, he doesn't foresee any issues with his eyesight going forward.

"I can do everything I used to do. Nothing is stopping me," he said.
