He's back, and he never left.

The New Orleans Saints have reached an agreement with franchise quarterback Drew Brees on a two-year deal worth $50 million with $27 million guaranteed, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports, citing sources.

The contract is written as a one-year deal with a team option for a second season and a no-trade clause, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Saints had until the beginning of free agency to sign Brees to a new deal or $18 million in dead money would have counted against the team's cap for 2018. In the interim, several other teams reached out to Brees' camp in hopes he'd consider another destination.

Instead, Brees will return to the Big Easy for a 13th season with the Saints.

He had the team on the brink of a berth into the NFC Championship Game in 2017, only to see it slip away thanks to a miraculous final play in a divisional playoff battle with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Saints finished the year ranked second in team offense and fifth in passing.
