Report: Browns trade former 1st-round pick Danny Shelton to Patriots
The Cleveland Browns aren't done making moves as the team stayed busy on Saturday, trading 2015 first-round selection and defensive tackle Danny Shelton to the New England Patriots for a 2019 third-round draft pick, sources confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Along with Shelton, the Patriots will receive a 2018 fifth-round draft pick from the Browns.
Shelton, 24, was drafted 12th overall by Cleveland. At the time of the selection, Shelton - who drew comparisons to former Patriots nose tackle Vince Wolfork - was the first defensive lineman out of Washington selected in the first round of the NFL draft since Steve Emtman in 1992.
The hulking young tackle fills a huge need for the Patriots, who ranked 30th in the league in rush defense last season. In 14 games with the Browns in 2017, Shelton recorded 34 combined tackles
This marks Cleveland's fourth trade in less than 24 hours. The team acquired Jarvis Landry, Tyrod Taylor, and Damarious Randall in separate deals on Friday.
