Monday Night Football will have a new voice in 2018 as Joe Tessitore will replace Sean McDonough as play-by-play lead, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.

McDonough has signed a multi-year extension to return to ESPN's college football coverage, ESPN announced Friday.

ESPN hired Tessitore in 2002 as a play-by-play man for boxing's Tuesday and Friday Night Fights. He most recently appeared as lead broadcaster for college football.

McDonough joined the MNF broadcast prior to the 2016 season, replacing longtime analyst Mike Tirico, who was hired NBC Sports.

The news comes after former NFL great Peyton Manning reportedly declined a place on the Monday Night Football broadcast.
