Bengals decline option on Adam Jones
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam Jones said the team declined to use their option on him.
Jones noted the Bengals would like him to return to the team in a reduced role, in nickel packages or as a punt/kick returner.
For clarity, #Bengals CB Adam Jones' contract will not expire until Mar. 14, at which point he'll become a UFA. By "not exercising the 2018 option" in Jones' deal, as was confirmed to me too, the Bengals have chosen not to extend Jones contract through next season at prev. rate.

"Of course I’d love to come back. Don’t make it sound like I’m ready to get out of there because I’m not,” Jones said Friday via the team's official website. "I'm very thankful to everyone there, Coach Lewis and Mr. (Mike) Brown. Of course, you know me. I’d love the chance to get on the field and compete every play, every down. Obviously, I've got some things to sit down and think about the next couple of days with my family."
Jones recorded 23 tackles and an interception in nine games during the 2017 season.
