Speculation over Marco Reus' future was temporarily put to rest Friday after the German international put pen to paper on a contract extension that will keep him at Borussia Dortmund until 2023, the Bundesliga side announced.

News of the extension comes in the wake of Reus' return to action after dealing with yet another long-term injury that sidelined him for several months before his return to fitness in January.

Reus has been on a torrid run of late, scoring three goals in his last three Bundesliga matches in a bid to catch German manager Joachim Low's attention ahead of this summer's World Cup in Russia.

"I'll look forward to (Germany announcing its World Cup squad) when we get there," he said in an interview on the Bundesliga's website Friday. "My excitement will grow more and more as we get closer and start playing international games. We will see what decisions the head coach makes. I'm very relaxed though. I will not miss out through injury.โ€

Reus was named to Germany's World Cup-winning squad ahead of the 2014 tournament in Brazil, but had to pull out after suffering an ankle injury in a warm-up match against Armenia days before the competition kicked off. He also missed out on Euro 2016 due to injury.
