Jerry Jones offered some support for Dez Bryant early in an offseason when the wide receiver has been widely rumored as a potential cap casualty.

Jones, the Dallas Cowboys' owner and general manager, answered questions for nearly 50 minutes Saturday at the combine, during which he was asked about Bryant's future with the team.

"As I sit here do we want (Bryant) on the team next year?" Jones said, according to Todd Archer of ESPN. "The answer is yes."

Bryant is owed $12.5 million in base salary in 2018 but he carries a $16.5-million cap hit. He can be released after June 1 to save the Cowboys $12.5 million against the salary cap, according to Spotrac.

Jones said a meeting with Bryant would be coming soon, while Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones has said the contract will need to be addressed.

Bryant had a third consecutive sub-1,000-yard season in 2017, catching 69 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns in 16 games.

He's three years into a five-year, $70-million contract signed ahead of the 2015 season.
