5 teams that should trade for Jarvis Landry

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry could be hitting the open market after his team reportedly gave him permission to seek a trade.

Landry was given the franchise tag by Miami earlier in the offseason and all parties will need to agree to a potential trade.

It's rare a three-time Pro Bowler is available in the middle of their prime and the 25-year-old should be a highly sought-after target.

Here are five teams that should trade for Landry.

Chicago Bears

If the Bears are serious about arming Mitchell Trubisky to succeed, they'll need genuine wide receivers - unless you're a Bears fan or degenerate fantasy football player, the current group is completely anonymous.

Landry is a very good possession receiver and fits the safety valve prototype perfectly. He won't be able to spur an anemic offense by himself, but is a player the Bears should aggressively target in order to give Trubisky a chance at turning into the potential star they envisioned.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills unexpectedly snapped their playoff drought in 2017 and though they haven't resolved their quarterback situation, expectations have now risen. Buffalo's wide receiver corps could use a much-needed upgrade as it looks to make a further dent into the AFC's power structure next fall.

Landry has an intimate knowledge of the AFC East after featuring for the Dolphins and could emerge as the Bills' No. 1 target in 2018. Paired with Kelvin Benjamin, he would give the Bills two formidable red-zone targets and make the team less reliant on a host of replacement-level players (thank you for your services, Andre Holmes!) It's time for Brandon Beane to get on the phone.

Cleveland Browns

No team is armed with nearly as much cap space as the Browns and if it's money and security Landry wants, this ought to be his ideal landing spot. Sure, the Browns don't have a quarterback at the moment, with due apologies to DeShone Kizer, but that could all change by the draft and, with Cleveland holding the No. 1 and 4 overall picks, it's not inconceivable to see the team with two electrifying playmakers in its backfield by the fall.

Landry, Josh Gordon, and Corey Coleman would form a sneaky-good receiving trio, with the Browns also counting on the continued development of tight end David Njoku. It would be a new challenge for Landry, and one he ought to seriously entertain.

New York Giants

Simply, trading for Landry would be an excellent move to placate Odell Beckham. Beckham aggressively lobbied the Giants to acquire his best friend during the 2017 season and now has a chance to make his dream come true.

It's unlikely the Giants will be able to afford both Beckham and Landry at full value, but playing in a massive media market among close company could be a package no other team can top. Landry, Beckham, Sterling Shepard, and Evan Engram is a dangerous quartet that could carry the Giants from the NFC East basement.

Baltimore Ravens

It's a testament to the rest of the Ravens' roster that they almost snuck into the playoffs despite a dreadful receiving group. Enter Landry.

Joe Flacco continues to throw short-to-intermediate passes with increased frequency, a notion that should play to Landry's strengths. With the Ravens, Landry would be the unquestioned top receiver and would be required to run every route while trying to carry the passing game. While it may be a stylistic fit, the Ravens may need to manoeuver the cap in order to acquire Landry. It's something for Ozzie Newsome to contemplate.
