They caught it: NFL admits Dez, Calvin catches should've stood; rule may change

It's unanimous among the NFL's competition committee: The controversial non-receptions by Calvin Johnson in 2010 and Dez Bryant in the 2014 playoffs should've been ruled complete.

The committee is working on clarifying the league's heavily scrutinized catch rule and, in doing so, is ready to admit a couple of mistakes. New York Giants owner John Mara said the room is in agreement that those two catches, in particular, should've stood, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert.

As a result, the committee is working at changing the portion of the catch rule that encompasses a receiver "going to the ground."

The committee is only just beginning discussions on how to improve the catch rule.
