The Canadian Olympic Committee announced short track speedskater Kim Boutin, who won three medals, will be Canada's flag bearer for the PyeongChang 2018 closing ceremony.

Boutin won bronze in the 500 meters and 1,500 meters and a silver in the 1,000-meter event, becoming the fourth Canadian to collect at least three medals at a single Winter Olympics.

The 23-year-old is the first speedskater to be named Canada's flag bearer in the closing ceremony since Cindy Klassen received the distinction in 2006. Klassen won five medals in long track speedskating in Torino.

Boutin dealt with death threats from local fans after winning her first medal in the 500 following the disqualification of South Korean skater Choi Min-jeong due to contact with the Canadian.

The Quebec native will lead Canada out of its most successful Olympics, having broken the national record for medals won at a single edition of the games.
