Report: Vikings expected to consider McCarron if unable to re-sign Keenum
The Minnesota Vikings are expected to consider signing free-agent-to-be AJ McCarron if they are unable to re-sign 2017 breakout star Case Keenum, Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press reports.
The Vikings currently have no quarterbacks under contract for the 2018 season, with Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater also set to hit the open market.
McCarron won his grievance against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday and will now become an unrestricted free agent.
Meanwhile, Keenum had a career year in 2017, guiding the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game. It's expected that Minnesota will consider franchise tagging Keenum to ensure he remains with the team in 2018, though it's possible the two parties agree to a long-term deal before that becomes necessary.
McCarron has been Andy Dalton's backup for the past four seasons.
