Ex-NFL QB David Carr: Sam Darnold 'as good as it gets'
The 2018 quarterback class in this year's NFL draft does not feature a consensus top prospect, but one former first overall pick does have a player atop his rankings.
Appearing on NFL Network, former NFL quarterback David Carr sang his praises for USC signal-caller Sam Darnold.
"Darnold for me is probably the No. 1 guy," Carr said on "NFL Total Access" on Friday. "I love everything about this kid from his ability on the field to how he carries himself."
The first pick in the 2002 draft did present concerns over Darnold's age - he's only 20 years old - but does not think that will hinder his draft status.
"Some people even say 'I'd like him to come back and play a year' which I understand ... it's an experience thing," said Carr. "But talent-wise, he's as good as it gets."
It remains to be seen how early Darnold is selected in this year's draft, but he clearly has fans inside the NFL community.
