Georgia may have lost the national championship game, but Kirby Smart is proving his Bulldogs are second to none on the recruiting trail.

As the dust settles from National Signing Day, Georgia had the country's best haul, according to ESPN's rankings.

The Bulldogs entered Wednesday with No. 1 and No. 11 overall prospects, quarterback Justin Fields and defensive end Benton Cox, already signed, along with the nation's top running back, Zamir White. Smart added to his impressive list by landing No. 2 cornerback Tyson Campbell and highly touted receiver Tommy Bush, among others.

He also landed four-star linebacker Quay Walker, who threw a Tennessee hat off his head during his announcement and donned the Georgia red - symbolizing the way Smart's become king of the recruiting cycle in just his third go-around with the Bulldogs.

Georgia wasn't the only school to have a solid Wednesday, as Ohio State and Texas closed strong to secure the nation's No. 2 and No. 3 classes. Penn State put another Big Ten program near the top at No. 4 while Clemson rounded out the top five.

Alabama dipped two spots to No. 6 overall - the school's lowest-ranked class under Nick Saban since 2010 - while USC closed in a big way to move up from No. 14 to No. 7.
