Kamara beats out Hunt for Offensive Rookie of the Year
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was named Offensive Rookie of the Year on Saturday.
The third-round pick started off his first season relatively slowly, with just 15 carries over the first four games as the Saints attempted to integrate Adrian Peterson into the lineup.
However, after Peterson was released, Kamara was the sparkplug that turned New Orleans into one of the league's most dominant rushing attacks over the remainder of the season.
He formed a standout duo with Mark Ingram, finishing the season with 728 rushing yards, 826 receiving yards, and an average of 6.1 yards per carry.
The Saints runner beat out Kareem Hunt for the award, with Deshaun Watson being the only other player to receive a vote.
