Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz remains optimistic he'll be ready for the start of the 2018 season after suffering a torn ACL in December.

"I truly believe I’ll be ready for Week 1," he said via Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Wentz was a leading MVP candidate before suffering the injury, completing 60.2 percent of his passes for 3,296 yards, 33 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The second-year quarterback was named to the Pro Bowl and earned second-team All-Pro honors.

Nick Foles took over for Wentz as the starting quarterback and submitted a masterful performance against the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship Game, going 26 of 33 for 352 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in the 38-7 rout, leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl showdown with the New England Patriots.
