Ryan Day is opting against joining the Tennessee Titans and is staying at Ohio State after the school announced a promotion - at least in title - for the assistant Tuesday.

Day spent last season as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Buckeyes, and will now be the full-on offensive coordinator for the team.

"Ryan is clearly a very talented coach who has been an outstanding addition to our program," Urban Meyer said in a release. "He has been approached by other schools numerous times this offseason for coordinator and head coach opportunities, and by the National Football League for a coordinator opportunity. I am pleased that he has elected to continue to work on this staff and to lead, mentor, and coach the terrific young men we have in this program."

Day was reported to be new Titans coach Mike Vrabel's choice for the offensive coordinator position.

Instead, the 38-year-old will stay with the Buckeyes and serve alongside last season's offensive coordinator, Kevin Wilson - who will retain the same title.

Ohio State ranked seventh in the country in total offense with Day and Wilson at the helm, but must now replace standout quarterback J.T. Barrett.
