The Carolina Panthers didn't wait long to fill the void at defensive coordinator left by Steve Wilks after he took the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job on Monday, as the club has already promoted defensive line coach Eric Washington to the role.
Washington has coached the Panthers' defensive line since 2011 and has been one of the major reasons why the unit has led the league in sacks since 2012.
The veteran coach certainly has a talented group to work with, as the Panthers were the 11th-ranked scoring defense in 2017, allowing just over 20 points per game.
