The New York Jets appear to be promoting from within for their offensive coordinator position, as sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN the club is expected to move quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates into the role.
Bates has spent time on various NFL and college coaching staffs since 2002 before coming to the Jets in 2017. His work with Josh McCown helped the veteran backup post the best year of his career, throwing for 2,926 yards and 18 touchdowns with a 94.5 passer rating.
The offensive coordinator position became available when the club opted to fire John Morton after one season.
