The NFL has determined the Oakland Raiders complied with the Rooney Rule in the hiring process of head coach Jon Gruden after an investigation, the league announced Friday.

Oakland will not face discipline for the hiring.

The Fritz Pollard Alliance, an advocacy group that helps monitor the league's diversity when hiring coaches and front-office members, requested the NFL inquire into whether the Raiders agreed to hire Gruden before interviewing minority candidates.

Oakland interviewed minority candidates in tight ends coach Bobby Johnson and USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin before announcing Gruden's hiring. However, owner Mark Davis admitted in a press conference that he was confident Gruden would be hired when the two met at a Raiders game on Christmas Day.
