The Baltimore Ravens may be interested in bringing back a familiar face to their coaching staff, as the team has reportedly contacted Chuck Pagano regarding their defensive coordinator vacancy, according to Jeff Zrebiec and Mike Preston of The Baltimore Sun, citing sources.

The Ravens are looking to replace former defensive coordinator Dean Pees, who announced his retirement on Monday. Pagano, who was fired by the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday after six seasons as head coach, has now emerged as a potential replacement after maintaining close contact with Ravens head coach John Harbaugh over the years.

Pagano held the position of defensive coordinator for the Ravens in 2011 after spending the previous three seasons with the team as their secondary coach.

During his one season running the defense, the team ranked third in the NFL in yards allowed per game (288.9), fourth in passing yards allowed per game (196.3), second in rushing yards allowed per game (92.6), and third in points allowed per game (16.6).

In the six seasons following his exit from Baltimore, Pagano led the Colts to an overall record of 53-43 with three playoff appearances from 2012-14.
