The New York Giants submitted a request to interview Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur for their head coaching vacancy, a source told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

Shurmur has emerged as one of the hottest coordinators around the league, garnering interest as a HC candidate from the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, and Detroit Lions.

The 52-year-old earned widespread acclaim this season for the Vikings' offensive success, which has come with the unheralded Case Keenum at quarterback. Minnesota also lost star rookie running back Dalvin Cook to a season-ending knee injury after four games.

Shurmur went 9-23 with the Cleveland Browns from 2011-12 in his only stint as a full-time NFL head coach.
