Report: Liverpool to demand more than £130M for wantaway Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho is determined to complete a move to Barcelona this month, but Liverpool won't consider any transfer unless it receives a bid worth upwards of £130 million, according to The Telegraph's Chris Bascombe.

Coutinho even believes he has played his final match for the Reds, The Times' Paul Joyce adds.

Liverpool famously rejected three separate bids from Barcelona last summer - the final one totalling £118 million with add-ons. The club has yet to receive a fourth offer.

Following reports in August that Coutinho submitted a transfer request, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) wrote in no uncertain terms that "no offers for Philippe would be considered."

The 25-year-old missed Liverpool's first few matches of the season as he dealt with a back injury, but many doubted he actually had a problem. Those suspicions seemed to be confirmed when he was deemed to be in "perfect condition to play" in a pair of World Cup qualifiers by Brazil's team doctor.

He has since returned to Jurgen Klopp's lineup in fine form, scoring 12 goals in his past 20 appearances across all competitions.

An ill-timed announcement on Nike's website, however, awakened rumours of a switch. The famous manufacturer - both Barcelona's supplier and Coutinho's personal sponsor - accidentally advertised the club's shirts with the player's name on the back.

The absence of a response from Liverpool is in stark contrast to FSG's aggressive tactics during last summer's media maelstrom. Klopp even laughed off the ad, saying he "couldn't be less interested in anything in the world."

It's still uncertain whether Barcelona has the funds to meet Liverpool's asking price. It would make Coutinho the second-most expensive player in football history behind Neymar.

Whether Coutinho will get his way is also a matter of interpretation. He still has several years left on his Liverpool contract, and no release clause to activate.

Just like at the beginning of the season, he is out with an injury. It's not believed to be serious.
