The Detroit Lions will interview Houston Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel for their vacant head coaching position Wednesday, a source told Albert Breer of MMQB.com.

This season was Vrabel's first year as DC following an offseason promotion from linebackers coach. Before joining the Texans, he played 14 years in the NFL.

The Lions are apparently seeking a defensive-minded head coach to succeed Jim Caldwell, with Matt Patricia, Steve Wilks, and the team's current defensive coordinator Teryl Austin among the candidates for the role.
