Jets extend contracts of HC Todd Bowles, GM Mike Maccagnan
The New York Jets appear to be content with the current leadership of their football team, as the club announced Friday it extended the contracts of head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan.
Both Bowles' and Maccagnan's extensions are reportedly two years in length, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, citing a source.
"We are very happy to have extended both Mike and Todd. During their time here, they have worked together to help the organization build a foundation on which to grow," Jets CEO Christopher Johnson said. "They are identifying, developing, and getting productivity out of our players. I believe we are headed in the right direction. This provides us continuity and stability as we continue to move this team towards sustained success. We still have a lot of work to do and I am excited to work closely with both of them as we move forward."
In his third year with the Jets, Bowles has led the team to a 5-10 record thus far despite being predicted by many to finish at the very bottom of the league standings. The 54-year-old has coached to an overall record of 20-27 during his tenure.
Maccagnan, who hired Bowles shortly after being named general manager, is just two years removed from being named Executive of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America in 2015.
