Report: Bengals interested in Redskins' Jay Gruden

The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to part ways with longtime head coach Marvin Lewis and their preferred replacement would be current Washington Redskins chief Jay Gruden, if he becomes available, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

The Bengals will miss the playoffs for the second consecutive year and have been disappointing at 5-9. Lewis is rumored to be leaving the team at the end of the year.

The Redskins will also miss the playoffs and currently sit at 6-8 on the year. Gruden signed a two-year contract extension in the offseason, but if Washington opts to clean house, the Bengals will target a reunion.

Gruden served as the Bengals' offensive coordinator for three seasons from 2011 to 2013 before getting his first head job with the Redskins. Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson has also been linked to the Bengals, but Cincinnati would target Gruden first, according to Rapoport.
