Cowboys paired with referee for 1st time since infamous Bryant non-catch

Andrew Weber / USA TODAY Sports

Dez Bryant may need to take a little extra care when coming down with receptions this week.

For the first time in almost three years, Bryant and the Dallas Cowboys will play a game officiated by referee Gene Steratore when they take on the Oakland Raiders, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The pairing is significant, considering Steratore was the referee who made the infamous no-catch call against Bryant that ultimately led to the Cowboys being eliminated from the 2014 playoffs by the Green Bay Packers.

The ruling has lived on as one of the most controversial calls in recent memory, and while Sunday's contest may not have a playoff setting, the result will significantly impact the Cowboys' playoff chances.
