Bengals' Lewis reveals Ross hid shoulder injury before going on IR

Brian Spurlock / USA TODAY Sports

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis revealed wide receiver John Ross was concealing a shoulder injury before the team placed him on injured reserve Wednesday.

Ross, selected ninth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, played sparingly throughout the year, and was benched after fumbling during a Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans.

Lewis told Ross Tucker of SiriusXM NFL Radio that Ross "came clean" Wednesday after previously refusing to disclose the injury in hopes of playing again during his rookie year.

It doesn't appear Ross will face further discipline, but it certainly adds closure to one of the most disappointing first-year campaigns of this season.
