Derwin James' days in college football are over.

The star Florida State safety announced via Instagram on Tuesday that he will forego the remainder of his collegiate career and enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

James added he will not participate in Florida State's upcoming Independence Bowl matchup with Southern Miss.

The decision is not surprising, as some have tabbed James in the past to be a top-10 talent in this year's draft, with both CBS Sports and WalterFootball.com ranking him the top safety in the draft class.

James returned to the gridiron after missing almost all of 2016 to record 84 tackles, one sack, and two interceptions, one of which was returned 41 yards for a touchdown against Delaware State.
