Baltimore Ravens top cornerback Jimmy Smith tore his Achilles in Sunday's 44-20 win over the Detroit Lions and is out for the season, head coach John Harbaugh announced after the game, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Smith was enjoying perhaps the best season of his career, recording three interceptions, nine pass deflections, and 26 tackles.
The Ravens will be left with veteran Brandon Carr, rookie Marlon Humphrey, and second-year defender Maurice Canady at cornerback as they push to make the playoffs.
