Embiid disses Drummond again: 'He can't shoot'

USA Today Sports

Joel Embiid continues to trash Andre Drummond ahead of their much-anticipated showdown on Saturday night.

Having already dissed Drummond's defensive abilities following their last outing, Embiid came back at the Detroit big man for his lack of shooting range in a larger response to how the Philadelphia 76ers will set up their defense against the Detroit Pistons.

"No disrespect, but he can't shoot," Embiid told Marshall Harris of NBC Sports Philadelphia. "So I just gotta worry about the defensive coverages that we have as a team."

If Drummond takes the bait and tries to prove Embiid wrong by launching some jumpers, then that has to count as a win for the Sixers.

Embiid's game plan makes a lot of sense. The Pistons are at their best when Drummond is facilitating out of the elbow areas and when he is rolling to the rim.

"They run a lot of ball screens and backside action, and he's always the roller, so he gets a lot of lobs. As a team we gotta make sure that doesn't happen and close out on shooters, too," Embiid said.
