Packers' Matthews thinks Rodgers is ready to return

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has been sidelined since Week 6 with a broken collarbone, is eligible to return for Week 15.

According to teammate Clay Matthews, it's an unnecessary wait.

"This past week, being a part of that rehab group, to watch Aaron, what he's been doing in there, I think we probably should have kept him off IR," Matthews said Wednesday, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "The way he's coming along, some of the balls he's throwing, accuracy-wise, everything a quarterback has to do, is pretty remarkable."

Rodgers will be able to return to the team's Saturday practice, but he must wait another two weeks to return to games, per the league's injured reserve rules.

Third-year player Brett Hundley has gone 1-5 as the Packers' starter in place of Rodgers.
