Buccaneers' Koetter names Winston starter vs. Packers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter named Jameis Winston his starter for Sunday against the Green Bay Packers after the quarterback returned to practice Wednesday.
Koetter said Winston is healthy and cleared to go from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the past three weeks.
Winston initially injured the shoulder in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals. He continued playing for three weeks, but was pulled during a Week 9 loss to the New Orleans Saints when it was apparent he was struggling with the injury.
During his three-week absence, he reportedly sought platelet-rich plasma injections in his shoulder that appear to have done the trick.
Veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick held down the fort in Weeks 10-12, leading the 4-7 Bucs to two wins and one loss.
