Florida could be zeroing in on its next head coach, and it could open up another big vacancy within the SEC.
Florida has set its sights on Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen to fill the program's head coaching vacancy, which could come by the end of the day, according to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.
Mullen has seen his name tossed around the rumor mill regarding coaching jobs at Florida and Tennessee in recent weeks, but it appears the Gators have pulled ahead in the race to bring in the 45-year-old.
Mississippi State capped off an 8-4 season Thursday with a 31-28 loss to Ole Miss, moving Mullen's overall record with the Bulldogs to 69-46, with a 33-39 record in conference play over nine seasons.
